11/17/21 Wednesday The Woodshop and You. 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
The Woodshop & You course is specifically designed to begin students on the fundamentals of carpentry, shop tools, techniques, and forming skills that could be applied to everyday life. Students will learn about shop safety, tool implementation and application, types of lumber and their use, how to use power tool equipment, and will ultimately build skills to design, create, and finish a piece of their choice. In each class, students will use the previous lesson to build upon, test, and modify their work in a collaborative setting. Any student that is interested in trades, regardless of type, will benefit from the skills that will be taught in this course. This class will be taught in the Izer gaming center which is is in the basement of the Milton Moose Building.

Shop goals for each student include:

  • Safety

  • Organization

  • Tool application/selection

  • Hardware identification/selection

  • Lumber application

  • Situational trouble-shooting of maintenance for home and backyard

*Ages 14 – 18 years of age.
